BRMConnect Charlotte: This Is Only the Beginning!

Two weeks ago, I had the privilege of being invited to attend and speak at BRMConnect in Charlotte, which was the first BRM Institute conference of 2016. As the Chief Examiner, I was able to communicate the status of the different certifications and get a first-hand glimpse at the demand for BRM Institute’s latest offering, the Certified Business Relationship Manager (CBRM®) certification. Those in attendance were particularly excited to learn more ‘how’ information, and I cannot wait for them to see what the CBRM team has developed for them. The inaugural CBRM course in May is officially sold out and training organizations are anxious to make their offerings available to you!

From an attendee perspective, I also found the knowledge-focused presentations to be thought-provoking, as they challenged the audience to focus on value and strategic partnerships. While I could speak volumes about the conference content, session facilitators, and everyone’s experiences riding in a pace car (!), the excitement, dedication, and willingness to share by all in attendance is something to celebrate in particular. In my personal opinion, the real magic was in the interactive nature of the conference. What made this experience exceptionally memorable and refreshing were things like driving around the Charlotte Motor Speedway at 100 mph, learning about improvements to the BRM field, discussing barriers to fix undesirable behaviors, and simply connecting with like-minded individuals and teams who were all focused on increasing business value.

After two BRMConnect conferences set in the United States, the bar has been set very high for BRM Institute’s first conferences overseas in Sydney and Amsterdam, as well as the one closer to home in my personal backyard of Banff. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the global BRM community has in store for us, and I cannot wait to meet more BRM champions at the next BRMConnect in Sydney!
