available exclusively for BRM Institute members. The first program to launch under the BRMs Developing BRMs™ banner is Mentoring. Mentoring is an exciting new peer-to-peer professional development program specifically designed to help BRM Institute members improve their leadership and BRM skills.

“We believe that mentoring is one of the most effective ways for business relationship managers to improve their skills,” said program Chair Monica Graham. “While BRMs will see their own careers benefit from participating in the program, its benefits will go far beyond. “This is a unique opportunity for experienced BRMs to mentor their peers, while perfecting the mentors’ own skills and contributing back to the industry and BRM community. We see this program as a great way to share experiences and best practices across the industry and as a way to strengthen the BRM profession and solidify the BRM community for the benefit of all,” Graham said.

The program is available exclusively to BRM Institute members and is structured in five phases, beginning with a mentor-mentee assignment in a manner that provides maximum value to both individuals. Once assigned, the mentor and the mentee meet to identify goals and outcomes and agree on a mentoring plan. The formalized mentoring program spans over a nine-months period, with a review of the process occurring midway through, and again at the conclusion of the nine-month program. Friendship and professional bonds formed between the peer mentors may last for a lifetime.

I believe, professional mentoring programs are far more likely to succeed when they are formalized. A mentoring plan with clear goals and objectives that is assessed at the conclusion of the program will bring benefit to both parties involved. “The best way to learn something is to teach it. This is a unique opportunity to do both,” added BRM Institute Co-Founder Dr. Aleksandr Zhuk.
