Q: What is the difference between certifications?
A:The BRMP® is a foundational-level course, perfect for anyone wanting to learn more about the BRM capability or just getting started as a BRM in the field.
The CBRM® is a practitioner-level course for BRMs with experience who are seeking to expand their understanding of the discipline in greater detail. The BRMP® is a prerequisite of the CBRM®.
The MBRM® is a culmination of learning and experience to demonstrate mastery in business relationship management.
Q: Do certifications expire?
A: The BRMP, CBRM and MBRM do not expire. To apply for the MBRM, you must meet specific criteria including 120 CPDs.
Q: Can I self-study for certification exams on my own?
A: As of 2024, you can now self-study for the BRMP Exam. You can purchase the BRMP exam here and it is available in multiple languages including French, Spanish, Italian and German. Students will need to purchase the BRMP textbook to study for the exam.
Q: What can I expect from taking the BRMP exam without a training instructor?
A: Once you complete your purchase, you’ll receive an email with a link to APMG International to follow the steps to scheduling your exam. You’ll be able to choose the time and date that works best for your schedule. Please watch this short video on how to schedule your online exam. Students will have one attempt to pass the exam. The exam is 50 multiple choice questions with a 50 minute duration to complete. Students will be monitored during the exam via an Online Proctor. Upon completion of your exam, you’ll get your results and when you pass, you can claim your BRMP Credential badge to share.
Q: Is there a limit to how many times I can take the exam if I fail?
A: No, there is no limitation.
Q: Is there a time limitation for taking the CBRM after the BRMP?
A: No, there is no limitation.
Q: What are Continued Professional Development (CPDs)?
A: CPDs are learning credits that acrue through experiences, learning, professional development and applied knowledge. In the context of BRM Institute credentialing, CPD credits are required exclusively for achieving the MBRM®. They capture the full picture of a candidate’s investment in the discipline: knowledge built through training and certification, and impact made through community engagement — speaking, writing, volunteering, attending events, and contributing to the advancement of BRM globally.
