BRM Institute Announces the Formation of the Business Relationship Management (BRM) Council

Business Relationship Management Institute (BRM Institute) announced today the formation of the BRM Council, an independent advisory group of business relationship managers from around the globe.

New York, New York, December 22, 2014 – Business Relationship Management Institute (BRM Institute) announced the formation of the BRM Council, an independent advisory group of business relationship managers from enterprise corporations around the globe. These organizations are affiliated with BRM Institute and have a record of successful implementation, along with a clear vision for the advancement of BRM capability.

As the world’s premier membership, professional development, and certification organization dedicated to serving the global business relationship management community, the next natural step was to form a BRM Council. Members of the Council will influence BRM Institute’s work, ensuring advancement in BRM capability and role maturity, in collaboration with knowledge domain advancement teams around the globe. The roadmap for key BRM growth initiatives will be governed by the Council’s collective experience. Their purpose is to chart a path for continuous growth and advancement of BRM capability in organizations and to assure increasing relevance and value of the BRM role.

“I am excited to chair the BRM Council,” said Stephanie Walsh, senior director – relationship management, “There is so much wisdom and experience in this profession. We can use that collective knowledge to move the profession forward, and support BRM Institute’s initiatives. While I am excited to see what the council can do for the BRM profession, I am just as excited to work with such a fantastic group of colleagues.”

Vice chairs of the Council include:

  • Arnie Wetherill, IT Group Manager, Services – Business Relationship Management
  • Terrence Jones, IT Relationship Manager
  • Deryl Heitman, Business Relationship Owner

Elected or appointed members of the Council will serve 18-24 months, and will participate in:

  • Formal BRM Council symposiums/roundtables at least quarterly (via video conferencing)
  • Reviewing BRM Institute membership plans and initiatives and contributing to their formation as part of a roundtable process
  • Completing BRM Institute professional development programs and providing feedback on program improvement
  • Identifying with and providing a consumer voice role in any form
  • Voluntarily providing feedback to BRM Institute areas needing attention, improvement, ideas, etc.
  • Surfacing issues/successes with their own BRM experiences to the council for suggestions or process improvement feedback;
  • Creating an annual report of accomplishments to the board of directors.

Membership in the council is open, and there is no fixed size. However, you must be a BRM Institute Professional Member committed to providing leadership and demonstrating the dedication required to ensure success of the Council’s mission.
